Welcome to my new website. Let me introduce myself. My name is Danielle Werda and I am a Speech-Language Pathologist. I am also a Mum of four small (and very energetic) children so I know what it’s like to be busy. Family life can be hectic and little things like speech difficulties and slow language development can be overlooked in the hustle and bustle of daily life (actually, they are not little but we’ll talk more about that later).
I am here to help. I will use this blog to discuss areas of Paediatric Speech Pathology – observations from my clinic, the latest research and things to look out for in children that may be at risk of a delayed or disordered language development. Early intervention is key.
I graduated from the University of Sydney in 2003 and moved back to Brisbane as quickly as I could. I have worked in a variety of Allied Health/Educational settings so I have varied experience and have been exposed to all sorts of little people with all sorts of difficulties and developmental disorders. I have worked privately in schools so I have an understanding of what is expected of children in the classroom environment and I know how to help.
I work collaboratively with both my clients and their families. It’s all about teamwork. I like to give my clients home activities that are flexible and fun. Where possible, I try to give ‘homework’ that can be done in the car, at the table or in the bath (if necessary).
I am looking forward to sharing information with you.
